DIY Holiday-themed terrariums

This year feels like it flew by! Not only is it already November, but Thanksgiving is in two days! I can’t wait until I get to go home and eat copious amounts of pumpkin pie. While Turkey Day is one of my favorite holidays, I love those days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are filled with Christmas music, holiday baking, and cheesy holiday movies.

As a blogger, this time of year also means a lot of crafting. I got a head-start with my holiday decorating this year by making these modern holiday-themed terrariums. I like how they’re not your typical red-and-green decoration, but still bring holiday cheer to any room!

Materials

Instructions

Download template from here, and cut out. The larger size will fit the 5.6 inch bowl and the smaller size will fit the 3.5 inch bowl.

Place template over the piece of balsa wood and carefully cut using an xacto knife. *Tip: Start by simply tracing the template with the xacto. Then score the wood where you traced. It took me about 3-4 cuts to break through the wood.*

Continue until you have cut out all of your pieces.

You will need two pieces to make one terrarium. Cut one of the pieces of wood in half.

Use wood glue to attach the cut pieces to either side of a full piece directly in the middle. Let dry completely.

While you wait for the glue to dry, you can build your terrarium! This is the fun part. Fill your glass bowl with decorative sand.

Add your holiday themed accents. (How cute are those trucks?!)

DIY Holiday-themed terrariumsOnce the glue is completely dry, and you’ve filled your holiday-themed terrariums, carefully place the bowl in the center of the wood pieces.
