A few weeks ago I wrote this post about veiled beanies. I didn’t think I’d get the chance to make my own before winter ended. However, the season does not seem to want to go away. After a light snowfall earlier this week, I decided I would still have plenty of time to wear my beanies. This DIY version of the trend will be the perfect addition to my collection! Having the chance to wear it is the only reason I hope winter sticks around…if just for a little longer.
You will need…
– Slouchy knit beanie
– Birdcage Netting
– Black thread & needle
– Scissors
1. Gather the veil netting along one side and pinch in place with your fingers.
2. Place the pinched edge along the backside of the beanie. Sew into place using threaded needle with a double knot tied at the end.
3. Bring needle up through the beanie and netting, and back down to secure the netting in place. Finish sewing with the needle on the underside of the beanie. Make a double knot and trim excess thread to finish off.
4. Place the beanie on your head and measure where the other end of the netting should be sewn. *It’s important to make sure both the beanie and veil will fit with ease!*
