DIY Geometric Necklace

Geometric Necklace

Remember my Geometric Rings? I wanted to make a necklace using the same technique. Instead of painting the clay, I decided to just use brightly colored clay. I absolutely loved the way it turned out!

Geometric-Necklace

You’ll need:

– Polymer Clay
– Chain
– Jump Rings
– Jewelry Fastenter
– Wire
– Xacto Blade
– Pliers

Geometric-Necklace1. Start by kneading the clay until it is soft enough to form. Roll the clay into balls. Mine were about 1-1.5″ in diameter.

Geometric-Necklace2. Use one end of the wire to poke a hole all the way through the clay balls. Bake the clay following the instructions on the wrapper.

Geometric-Necklace3. After the clay has baked and cooled, use the Xacto knife to cut off the rounded edges of the ball until you are left with only straight edges.

Geometric-Necklace4. Cut a 6″ piece of wire (or long enough to fit your shapes). Using the pliers, bend a small loop into one of the ends.

Geometric-Necklace5. String your clay shapes onto the wire. Cut off any excess wire and make a loop on the end. Add jump rings to each of the loops.

Geometric-Necklace6. Cut two pieces of chain whatever length you want your necklace. Mine were about 9″ long. Attach a jump ring and fastener to one chain, and a jump ring to the other chain.

Geometric-Necklace7. Attach the opposite ends of the chains to the jump rings on the wire loops. And you’re done!
