10 Books I’ve Read This Year

06.04.21

It’s been over a year since my last blog post. That’s hard for me to admit because I really enjoy blogging, but I just did not have the energy last year. Though I already worked from home since before the pandemic, 2020 was exceptionally difficult. The one thing I did consistently was read (and of course watch dozens of new Netflix series). Every year I set a reading goal on Goodreads, and I feel like I’m flying through the 40 book goal I set for 2021. Here are the first ten books I’ve read this year…

Recipe for One: Buttermilk Biscuits

Living alone has a lot of perks, like watching whatever you want on TV or no one judging how many buttermilk biscuits you ate in one sitting. Solitary living also has some downsides, like no one being around to stop you from eating too many biscuits.

In all seriousness, I love to bake! Some of you might know that I even went to pastry school. But, it’s hard to bake treats when no one else will be around to help you eat them, which inevitably means I feel obligated to finish them myself. Seeing as how I have no self control, I thought I’d start a new blog series: Recipes for One! Metallic Kitchens: Yay or Nay?

01.06.20

In an attempt to spend less time on Instagram, I find myself browsing Pinterest way more than usual. (Isn’t it funny how we trade one vice for another?) During my guilt-filled scrolling, images of metallic kitchens kept popping up over and over again.

What do you think of adding metallic accents in your kitchen? Honestly, I was a little hesitant at first of such a bold decorating move, but after looking through some of these images I’ve come around to the idea.

I particularly love the look of brushed metallic lower cabinets paired with soft pink upper cabinets pictured above. Throw in some green marbled countertops (something I never thought I’d say) and I’m sold.

Sweet Dreams are Made of Half Moon Headboards

10.07.19

Earlier this year, I made a DIY headboard (you can see it in these photos) for my apartment using just plywood, foam, and polyester batting. It completely transformed my studio and made my “bedroom” area look so much more put together and grown up. In typical blogger fashion, I’m already looking to change up the look of the headboard by using a lighter and more neutral-colored fabric. While I was doing research for color schemes, I came across the top image of a half-moon headboard. I’m so in love with the unique, statement making shape. Plus, it’s also easily DIY-able.

I trolled the internet for more arched headboards and was not disappointed by the results. Click through to see the rest! I particularly like the idea of a painted semi-circle headboard over your regular headboard, since you’d get the best of both worlds, and could easily paint over it again!
